Quilting

In 2015 to enhance our patchwork service, we purchased a Bernina Q24 Long Arm Quilting machine (and we love it). We are now able to quilt your patchwork creations for you. If you come into the store you may be able to see it in action and even have a try (though not if we are working on a customer quilt).

PREPARING YOUR QUILT FOR QUILTING

Your Quilt:

Any buttons, trims etc are better added after quilting
Please ensure there are no pins in your quilt.

Your Batting:

We have a selection of batting for you to choose from.
If bringing your own batting, it needs to be at least 6" wider and longer than your quilt top.

Backing Fabric:

Your backing needs to be 8 -12" wider and longer than your quilt top.
A sheet does not make a good backing

If you are joining your backing fabric ensure selvages are cut off before joining, and seams are pressed open

QUILTING RATES

Our quilting is freehand style. It is not computer driven therefore the stitching lines can be adjusted as needed. However, this also means it is never computer perfect.

We have a range of batting, backing fabric and thread available in store and the cost of these is in addition to the quilting cost.

Naturally the price depends on what you require and the size of your quilt.  We can offer you:

Tacking Only:

Tacking stitches the three layers of your quilt together so you can finish it - either by hand or by machine.

All Over Stipple:

A freehand design over the entire quilt

Custom Design:

A custom design allows for stitching around applique etc. You will need to discuss this when you bring your quilt in.
